LPG Congress in Bogotá highlights energy security and global supply

The 8th International LPG Congress, organized by Gasnova in Bogotá, highlighted Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a strategic pillar for energy security and social development. Adriana Jiménez, executive director of the Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Gas (CREG), emphasized the fuel's versatility and its essential role in providing energy access to remote rural areas.

Regarding global supply, experts at the congress noted that international markets possess sufficient inventory to meet demand, even amidst geopolitical tensions. Adrián Calcáneo of Chemical Market Analytics stated that the United States has become a primary driver of global LPG supply growth. He noted that U.S. exports are robust enough to cover Colombian demand many times over, helping to offset supply disruptions in other regions like the Middle East.
