LPS targets financial inclusion and insurance policy guarantees

The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) is implementing several strategic initiatives to strengthen the national financial ecosystem. During the Lampung Financial Festival, LPS officials outlined plans to increase financial inclusion by targeting two million unbanked individuals to open bank accounts annually. This effort aims to reduce the current number of people without accounts from approximately 15 million to 13 million by next year through expanded financial literacy programs.

LPS Chairman Anggito Abimanyu announced that the Insurance Policy Guarantee Program (PPP) is targeted to become active by mid-2027, pending government regulations and coordination with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Additionally, LPS is exploring investor relation schemes to rescue problematic Rural Banks (BPR/BPRS) by offering them to existing or new investors, rather than relying solely on liquidation.

Separately, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) reported a 1.82 percent increase in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) for the week ending September 4, 2026, ahead of the Public Expose Live 2026 event.
