LPTQ Padang implements continuous training system for Quranic competitions

The Padang Quran Development Institute (LPTQ) is implementing a major overhaul of its kafilah training system following an evaluation of West Sumatra’s performance at the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in Semarang.

Led by Deputy Mayor and LPTQ Chairman Maigus Nasir, the new strategy moves away from seasonal, last-minute preparations toward a structured, multi-level educational system. This shift is intended to address the planned transition to annual MTQ events. The training process will begin at local mosques and prayer rooms, progressing through village and district levels, and culminating at the city level via the Quran Center.

To support this initiative, the Padang City Government will integrate LPTQ training with the ‘Smart Surau’ program. This synergy will focus on the ‘3T’ approach—Tahsin (recitation improvement), Tafsir (interpretation), and Tahfiz (memorization)—to identify and nurture talented youth from an early age.
