The 2026/27 Serie B season officially commences with an Open Day match between LR Vicenza and Catanzaro at the Romeo Menti Stadium on Friday, August 21, at 20:30. Vicenza, returning to the second tier after four years, faces a Catanzaro side that narrowly missed promotion to Serie A last season.

Catanzaro manager Giorgio Gorgone noted that his squad has undergone significant changes with several key players departing, though he expressed confidence in the new arrivals. The team will be without Pafundi due to injury.
