Lőrinc Mészáros addresses economic concerns following Hungarian government change

Lőrinc Mészáros, Hungary's wealthiest individual, addressed the Mészáros Group family day, commenting on the political shift following recent elections. He stated that the group is not ignoring the fact that a different political party has formed the government, expressing hope that the new administration does not intend to dismantle Hungarian domestic capital in favor of multinational corporations.

Mészáros emphasized that his family and the group will do everything possible to maintain their market positions. The speech comes amid financial challenges for his companies following the change in government; the Ministry of Agriculture reportedly withdrew 33 billion HUF in EU funding from Gallicoop Zrt. and 65 billion HUF in development funds from Opus Titász Zrt.

According to reports, the Mészáros Group provides direct or indirect employment to between 100,000 and 200,000 people in Hungary. While some interpretations of his remarks suggest a combative tone, others suggest he is attempting to establish a working relationship with Péter Magyar's government.
