LS Electric and LS Cable & System target European power market
South Korean companies are expanding their presence in the global power infrastructure market, driven by the rise of AI data centers and increased investment in energy grids. LS Electric and LS Cable & System will participate jointly in the CIGRE 2026 exhibition in Paris, France, to showcase next-generation technologies.
LS Electric plans to present High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) solutions, grid stabilization technologies such as STATCOM, and DC distribution technologies designed for AI data centers. LS Cable & System will exhibit HVDC submarine and underground cable systems, while its subsidiary, LS Materials, will present ultra-capacitors to target the data center power market. This move aims to capture demand in Europe, where the EU Commission estimates a need for approximately 584 billion euros in grid investment by 2030.
In the energy storage system (ESS) sector, Seojin System has reported an order backlog of approximately 1 trillion won, with deliveries secured through the second quarter of next year. Despite recent operating losses due to delays in its US ESS assembly plant, analysts expect a return to profitability in the third quarter due to increasing demand for ESS and semiconductor equipment.
