LS Electric begins mass production of G2 ESS power conversion unit at Cheonan DC factory

LS Electric announced the start of mass production for its next‑generation energy‑storage system (ESS) power conversion device, the G2, at the Cheonan DC factory in South Korea. The inaugural shipment ceremony was attended by chairman Gu Ja‑kyun, who highlighted the plant’s role as a key base for the company’s DC‑era technology leadership and urged the team to secure the market’s “DC era” dominance.

The G2 PCS incorporates water‑cooled cooling, a compact structure and improved heat‑control performance, enabling higher efficiency and space‑saving integration with battery‑integrated ESS solutions. The Cheonan facility is the world’s first 100 % DC distribution plant, equipped with semiconductor transformers, semiconductor circuit breakers and other DC‑specific equipment, delivering more than a 10 % boost in overall energy‑efficiency.

LS Electric expects the global ESS market to keep expanding, driven by rising AI data‑center power demand and renewable‑energy growth, especially in the United States. With tightening regulations on Chinese power‑equipment imports, the company sees an opportunity to position itself as a leading supplier of reliable DC‑technology solutions worldwide.
