LS EM‑Tron unveils South Korea’s first autonomous tractor for irregular farmland
South Korean industrial‑machine maker LS EM‑Tron, a subsidiary of LS Group, announced the development of autonomous tractor technology that can operate on non‑standard, irregular farmland. The system uses a self‑developed algorithm to automatically map optimal work paths and can cover up to 98 % of a field’s area, a significant improvement over previous models that required regular, rectangular plots.
The technology will be provided free of charge to customers with LS autonomous tractors version 3.0 and above via over‑the‑air (OTA) updates, eliminating the need for new equipment purchases or onsite servicing. President Shin Jae‑ho said the advancement aims to boost work efficiency and profitability for farmers and marks a step toward a fully unmanned agricultural era.
