LSDM criticizes North Macedonia's stalled EU accession path

The LSDM party has criticized the current leadership in North Macedonia for stalling the country's path toward European Union membership. Party representatives argue that EU accession would bring greater judicial accountability, noting that candidate countries must integrate with the European Public Prosecutor's Office before full membership.

LSDM Vice President Fani Karanfilova Panovska warned that instead of achieving the promised negotiating advantages, North Macedonia is facing a deteriorating position. She highlighted that the country has been pushed into bilateral talks with Bulgaria, a move she claims deviates from the negotiating framework agreed upon by the 27 EU member states.

The party expressed concern that the ongoing delays and the shift toward bilateralism will result in serious consequences for the nation, including the departure of young people and businesses, as well as increased poverty. They contrasted North Macedonia's stagnation with the progress made by other candidate nations like Albania and Montenegro.
