LSU basketball lands five-star guard King Gibson

LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade has secured a commitment from five-star combo guard King Gibson for the 2027 recruiting class. Gibson, a Greensboro, North Carolina native currently attending SPIRE Academy in Ohio, announced his decision on ESPN2, choosing the Tigers over finalists Arkansas, Louisville, and Providence.

Ranked as a top-tier prospect, Gibson is noted for his scoring efficiency and playmaking abilities. Last season at SPIRE Academy, he averaged approximately 15 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game, while shooting over 45% from the three-point line. This commitment marks a significant recruiting milestone for Wade since his return to the LSU program.

Gibson joins Ahmad Hudson as the second commitment in LSU’s 2027 class. Hudson is a highly regarded forward from Ruston who is also an elite tight end prospect committed to play football for the Tigers.
