LSU defeats Mississippi State 31-0 amid injury struggles

Mississippi State suffered a 31-0 shutout loss to the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on October 17. The Bulldogs' performance was significantly impacted by injuries to several key starters, including quarterback Kamario Taylor and running back Fluff Bothwell, who were sidelined with foot injuries.

Due to these absences, head coach Jeff Lebby utilized redshirt freshman quarterback Parker “Billy” Puckett for his first collegiate start, alongside running back Kolin Wilson. The Bulldogs also faced defensive shortages, missing linebackers Zakari Tillman and Jalen Smith, as well as defensive linemen Trevion Williams and Diesle Maye.

Following the loss, Lebby emphasized the necessity of player development and execution from depth players. He noted that as backups gain more meaningful playing time and experience, they must improve their ability to recognize defensive schemes and execute under pressure to help salvage the season.
