LSU faces critical matchup against Mississippi State following loss to Kentucky

The LSU Tigers face a critical upcoming matchup against Mississippi State following a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky. That defeat, which included a field goal miss by Adam Zouagui in the final seconds, dropped LSU to No. 22 in the AP Top 25.

Mississippi State enters the contest with significant uncertainty regarding their offensive lineup. Quarterback Kamario Taylor and running back Fluff Bothwell are both listed as questionable due to injuries. Taylor has been dealing with a foot injury that has limited his practice participation.

LSU's season is considered to be at a crossroads, as analyst Kirk Herbstreit noted the team cannot afford another loss if they wish to remain in the College Football Playoff conversation. The matchup between coaches Lane Kiffin and Jeff Lebby will also serve as a test of offensive preparation and defensive response.
