LSU lands major transfers Tuihalamaka and Dent

LSU has secured two high-profile athletic transfers following a Louisiana state court ruling that granted several 2022 signees a fifth year of eligibility via a temporary restraining order.

In football, defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka is transferring from Notre Dame to LSU. Tuihalamaka, who played 54 games for the Fighting Irish, provides significant depth to the Tigers' defensive line. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman noted that a late transfer was not feasible for his program due to the timing of the admissions cycle and academic success concerns.

In men’s basketball, former UCLA point guard Donovan Dent has committed to LSU. Dent, a former Mountain West Player of the Year, averaged 13.3 points and 7.6 assists per game during his season at UCLA. His addition strengthens the roster for head coach Will Wade as the program seeks to improve its recent performance.
