LSU men's basketball faces roster eligibility uncertainty

LSU men's basketball head coach Will Wade is facing significant roster uncertainty ahead of the 2026-27 season due to player eligibility disputes. Currently, only four players on the roster are officially listed as eligible to play.

Wade has defended the program's unconventional approach to roster building, stating the team will remain ‘unapologetic’ about pursuing players with contentious statuses. Among the players involved is RJ Luis, a former St. John's player who secured a temporary injunction to play despite having signed two NBA contracts. Other players, including Skyy Clark and Donovan Dent, have pursued legal action to secure a fifth year of eligibility.

The program's roster challenges follow previous tension between LSU and the SEC, which previously considered removing the university from the conference after the football program attempted to add players who had already signed NFL contracts.
