LSU rejects running clock in 63-14 win over McNeese State

LSU secured a 63-14 victory against FCS opponent McNeese State in their nonconference finale. During the game, head coach Lane Kiffin declined an offer from referees to implement a running clock for the third and fourth quarters.

Kiffin stated his refusal was based on a philosophy of playing physically until the game is decided, rather than running out the clock. Following this decision, the Tigers continued their offensive momentum, recording 731 total yards and 39 first downs.

Despite quarterback Sam Leavitt being pulled after the first half due to a pulled hamstring, the offense remained productive. Reserve running back Stacey Gage contributed 110 rushing yards, joining Harlem Berry, who recorded 125 yards, as dual 100-yard rushers for the team.
