LSU Tigers offense shows extreme volatility in loss to Ole Miss

The LSU Tigers offense displayed two distinct performances during their recent matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels. In the first half, the Tigers struggled with inefficiency, averaging only 3.7 yards per play and yielding a 24-7 deficit. The passing attack was particularly limited, producing only 46 yards in the opening half.

Following halftime, LSU's offense shifted significantly, generating 213 yards at a rate of 5.6 yards per play. This resurgence was driven by seven explosive plays that accounted for approximately 62% of their second-half yardage, allowing the Tigers to score 17 points and briefly tie the game.

Despite the second-half surge, the loss raises questions regarding the consistency of quarterback Sam Leavitt and the overall execution of an offense that received significant investment through the transfer portal. Ole Miss coach Pete Golding noted that the defensive performance was not due to new schematic adjustments, but rather the difficulty of containing high-powered offensive bursts.
