László Nemes film 'Moulin' depicts Jean Moulin’s final days

Director László Nemes has released 'Moulin', a film focusing on the final days of Jean Moulin, the leader of the French Resistance during World War II. Rather than a traditional biopic, the film concentrates on the human aspects of Moulin, portraying him as a man facing the fear of death rather than an untouchable myth.

The narrative centers on the confrontation between Moulin and Klaus Barbie, the head of the Gestapo in Lyon. Following his arrest on June 21, 1943, the film depicts his imprisonment at Fort Montluc and the subsequent interrogations and torture by Barbie. The story concludes with Moulin’s death on July 8, 1944, while being deported to Germany.

Gilles Lellouche stars as Jean Moulin, with Lars Eidinger portraying Klaus Barbie. The production is a collaboration involving Pitchipoï Productions and TF1.
