L&T and BAE Systems begin production of BvS10 Sindhu vehicles

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and BAE Systems have commenced production of the BvS10 Sindhu articulated all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) at the L&T Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira, Gujarat. The Indian Army has ordered 18 of these specialized tracked vehicles to enhance mobility in extreme environments.

The BvS10 Sindhu is designed to operate in highly challenging terrains, including high-altitude regions like Ladakh at elevations up to 18,000 feet with temperatures as low as minus 55 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the vehicles are capable of functioning in the marshlands and deserts of the Kutch region, where temperatures can reach 55 degrees Celsius.

Produced under a licensed agreement, the vehicles will feature more than 60 percent indigenous content, supporting the “Make in India” initiative to reduce reliance on foreign supply chains. The partnership includes technology transfer and engineering assistance from BAE Systems, with deliveries expected to be completed within two years.
