LTO investigates motorcycle rider after hitting two runners in Makati

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show-cause order against a 17-year-old motorcycle rider and the vehicle's registered owner following a collision on Ayala Avenue in Makati City. The incident occurred during a ‘Car-Free Sunday’ event on August 30, when a motorcycle struck two runners, aged 34 and 36.

The victims sustained head injuries and were hospitalized in stable condition. According to police, the rider entered the restricted zone while traveling from EDSA toward Paseo de Roxas, claiming he did not see barriers or signs prohibiting vehicle entry.

The LTO has ordered the parties to appear for a hearing on September 8 and to submit sworn affidavits. The rider faces potential charges for reckless driving and disregarding traffic signs, and his license is subject to a 90-day preventive suspension. Additionally, an alarm has been placed on the motorcycle to prevent its sale, registration renewal, or ownership transfer.
