LTO Nederland advocates for growers at Catshuis talks
LTO Nederland participated in social partner discussions at the Catshuis on October 7, meeting with the Dutch cabinet, employer organizations VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland, and labor unions FNV, CNV, and VCP. The organization aims to secure a sustainable earning model for growers and gardeners.
Representing LTO Nederland, Ger Koopmans addressed topics including social security, the labor market, and economic growth. Key discussion points for upcoming months include economic growth, the WIA (Work and Income according to Capacity Act), and the reduction of the period for employer-paid sick leave. Koopmans specifically advocated for deregulation and a reduction in inspection burdens to support economic expansion.
The agricultural sector remains a significant contributor to the Dutch economy. In 2022, the agro-complex realized €66 billion in added value and provided approximately 605,000 man-years of work. Furthermore, in 2025, the Netherlands exported €137.5 billion in agricultural goods.
