Lu Dedić celebrates 24th birthday, honors late father and grandmother

Croatian singer‑songwriter Lu Dedić marked her 24th birthday on Instagram, sharing photos of a chocolate muffin with a candle. The post attracted congratulatory messages from fans and fellow musicians. In the caption she reflected on the recent loss of her father, pianist Matija Dedić, who died in June 2022, and her grandmother, celebrated vocalist Gabi Novak, who passed away two months later. She wrote, “Nezamislivo je to da te više nema… ostajem jaka jer si ti bio moj najveći uzor.”

Lu also spoke openly about living with type‑1 diabetes, noting that the condition is genetic and that she manages it daily with insulin and a phone app. She hopes her visibility can help others with the disease. The young artist, a granddaughter of renowned musicians Arsena Dedić and Gabi Novak, has already recorded several songs and continues her family’s musical legacy.
