Lu Hsiao-yen endorses Wu Xiu-hua for Taitung County Magistrate
Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiao-yen traveled to Taitung to campaign for Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Wu Xiu-hua for the Taitung County Magistrate position. During the endorsement, Lu suggested a political division of labor: that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Chen Ying should remain in the central government to secure resources for the region, while Wu Xiu-hua should manage local administration.
Chen Ying responded to the suggestion by stating she does not accept such an arrangement. Chen argued that her 20 years of experience in the central government would be an asset if brought back to Taitung to transform resources into actual local construction and development. She emphasized that the future of Taitung should be decided by its residents rather than being pre-arranged by political parties.
Lu Hsiao-yen praised Wu Xiu-hua’s extensive experience as a former legislator and speaker, describing her as the most grounded candidate for the role. The campaign event also included local activities and a visit to a memorial service for political advisor Rao Ying-chi.
