Lu Hsiu-yen Calls for 2026 No‑Confidence Vote and Pushes Blue‑White Cooperation at TPP Anniversary
Lu Hsiu‑yen attended the Taiwan People’s Party’s seventh‑anniversary celebration in Taichung, where she highlighted the party’s ongoing cooperation with the Kuomintang. Party chairman Huang Guochang reiterated the “blue‑white” alliance and outlined joint strategies for upcoming local elections, especially in Hsinchu County and city.
During her speech, Lu criticised the central government for allegedly covering up a food‑safety scandal involving benzopyrene in cooking oil, accusing officials of “cover‑up, eating the case, and acting as gate‑keepers.” She urged the public to use the November 28 local elections to express dissatisfaction, calling for a nationwide no‑confidence motion in 2026 and, if the ruling Democratic Progressive Party remains in power, a “2028全民倒賴” to oust President Lai Ching‑te.
The party emphasized that the alliance aims to field strong candidates for the 2026 local contests and to lay groundwork for the 2028 presidential race.
