Luan Giliomee joins Bulls from Sharks in player exchange
Nineteen-year-old utility back Luan Giliomee is set to join the Bulls from the Sharks following a player exchange agreement. While Giliomee was originally scheduled to move in December, the transfer has been brought forward after the Sharks secured Junior Springbok hooker Esethu Mnebelele from the Bulls.
Bulls coach Johan Ackermann expressed excitement regarding Giliomee’s arrival, noting his ability to play both fly-half (No 10) and fullback (No 15). Ackermann highlighted the player’s “X factor” and ability to read the game, suggesting the move provides a valuable opportunity for the youngster to learn from experienced players like Handré Pollard and Willie le Roux.
Giliomee is expected to report for duty at Loftus Versfeld this week. However, Ackermann indicated that the player may not be rushed into immediate action, specifically mentioning the upcoming Jukskei derby against the Lions, noting the difficulty of integrating a new player into the system within a few training sessions.
