Luanda hosts 8th edition of International Film Festival

The 8th edition of the Luanda International Film Festival (FIC Luanda) concluded in Angola, running from October 28 to November 2, 2026. The event featured over 100 films from 20 different countries and attracted more than 6,000 spectators.

Following an eleven-year hiatus, the festival utilized venues such as the Cinemateca Nacional and Cine Teatro Nacional. Programming included official competitions, masterclasses, and outdoor initiatives like Cine Zunga. Nigeria served as the guest of honor, alongside a dedicated showcase for Brazilian cinema.

Industry professionals used the event to discuss challenges facing the Angolan film industry. Key topics included the need for better training in scriptwriting and post-production, improvements to acoustic and projection technology in theaters, and the lack of regular funding to sustain commercial exhibition circuits.
