Luanda hosts caravan to protest US blockade against Cuba

A caravan will travel through Luanda, Angola, to express solidarity with Cuba and protest the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States. Organized by the Association of the Cuban Community Residents in Angola and the Association of Angolan Former Students Trained in Cuba, the demonstration also commemorates the centenary of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

The march is scheduled to begin at the Hotel Lukweku and conclude near the 11 de Novembro Market. Various organizations, including the Angola–Cuba Friendship Association and the Angolan League of Friendship, Solidarity and Peace, have joined the mobilization.

The protest comes amid intensified US coercive measures, including an oil blockade, which have contributed to an energy crisis in Cuba affecting essential services such as healthcare, transport, water supply, and food distribution. The United Nations General Assembly is expected to debate the end of these policies on October 27 and 28.
