Lučani factory victim's father petitions President Vučić for memorial plaque

Milovan Milivojević, the father of a worker killed in the 2017 Lučani factory explosion, has submitted a formal request to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to install a memorial plaque at the 'Milan Blagojević - Namenska' facility. The request seeks to honor his son, Milomir Milivojević, at the exact location where he died. Milivojević also intends to submit the same request to Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić.

The father stated that factory management had previously promised to allow the installation of the plaque ahead of local elections in March, but has since ceased communication. Milivojević offered to personally finance the plaque, which would feature his son's image and the inscription 'Burned in the fire on July 14, 2017'.

The 2017 explosion and gunpowder fire, which claimed the lives of Milomir Milivojević and Milojko Ignjatović, was attributed to improper handling of technological waste and violations of safety regulations. Legal proceedings regarding the incident resulted in one former manager being acquitted and another receiving a reduced sentence of two years for negligence. Proceedings against the former director, Radoš Milovanović, were discontinued following his death in 2023.
