Lubin hosts conference on youth cyberbullying and online hate

The “Your Choice, Your Strength” conference was held at the Muza Cultural Center in Lubin to address the issue of cyberbullying and online hate among youth. Organized by the District Police Command, the event drew approximately 400 primary school students to discuss the legal, psychological, and social consequences of digital harassment.

Speakers included legal and medical professionals, such as Anna Urbańska, a judge from the Lubin District Court, who explained the legal ramifications of insulting or discriminating against others. She noted that while adults face criminal courts, children aged 10 to 17 are subject to family courts. Experts emphasized that online hate is particularly dangerous due to its wide reach and the permanent nature of digital content.

The conference focused on education as a tool to reduce online harassment, encouraging students to reflect on how their digital interactions affect others. Participants were urged to move beyond passive observation and actively support victims to foster a culture of respect in digital spaces.
