Lublin archaeologists discover 1,000-year-old settlement

Archaeologists from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University have uncovered significant remains of a settlement dating back to the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries in central Lublin. The excavations, conducted at the intersection of Świętoduska, Lubartowska, and Bajkowskiego streets, have reached depths of up to 5 meters.

Findings include remnants of dwellings, hearths, workshops, ceramic fragments, and livestock bones. Notable artifacts discovered include lead textile seals used as ancient trademarks and an unusual sundial crafted from animal bone. These discoveries provide insight into daily life during the era of Mieszko I and Bolesław Chrobry.
