Lublin hospital emergency room access failure during heart attack

A 41-year-old man, Jarosław, survived a life-threatening full-wall right-side heart attack after being unable to access the emergency room at a hospital on Herberta Street in Lublin. Despite the facility being required to operate its admissions office 24 hours a day, the man and his wife found the doors locked and received no response after repeatedly ringing the bell.

The situation escalated when the man's wife eventually called an ambulance. He was transported to the MSWiA Hospital in Lublin, where medical staff confirmed he had suffered a severe heart attack and stated he likely would not have survived until morning without immediate intervention.

Local authorities and hospital management are investigating the incident. Officials from the Provincial Emergency Medical Service and the hospital administration have acknowledged the events, and staff members may face disciplinary consequences. While a hospital employee claimed such an occurrence was ‘impossible’, the patient and his wife described a harrowing delay in receiving critical care.
