Poland investigates suspected airspace violation near Lublin

Polish authorities are investigating a suspected airspace violation by an unidentified object that may have occurred overnight near Lublin. The incident follows reports from residents in the Lublin and Łęczyn counties who heard loud, low-toned noises, described by some as similar to a drone, around 2:00 AM.

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces (DORSZ) has deployed a Ground Search and Rescue Team (NZPR) from the Territorial Defence Forces to search the area south of Lublin, specifically near the Zemborzycki Reservoir. The operation involves the Military Gendarmerie and Police, and has utilized a Black Hawk helicopter to verify radar signals and local reports.

As of now, a violation of Polish airspace has not been officially confirmed. Authorities are investigating several hypotheses, including meteorological anomalies, a potential smuggling attempt, or a provocation. While search efforts in the Zemborzycki area were suspended for the night without finding any debris or traces of an aircraft, operations are scheduled to resume on Monday.

In a related development, Lithuanian officials reported finding an object in northern Lithuania that may have entered from Polish territory. Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas has proposed a joint investigation with Poland, though Polish radar systems have not confirmed a border crossing.
