Luboten commemorates 25 years since civilian massacre

Residents, relatives, and politicians gathered in the village of Luboten to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the massacre of 10 Albanian civilians. The killings occurred on August 12, 2001, just one day before the signing of the Ohrid Agreement, which was intended to end the conflict in the region.

Survivors and family members shared testimonies of the violence, describing the deaths of children and relatives. Arbër Ademi, Secretary General of the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), noted that the crimes committed by state apparatuses were confirmed by final judgments from the international court in The Hague. The commemoration included laying flowers at the graves of the victims to ensure the memory of the event and the sacrifices made for peace are not forgotten.
