Lubricant industry updates: PETRONAS reorganizes Syntium range and SIMEPETRO announces 2026 events

PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) has announced a reorganization of its Syntium lubricant range for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). The new lineup, which will be showcased at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, aims to simplify selection while covering over 90% of the European passenger car fleet. The range includes four variants designed for modern engines, such as the PETRONAS Syntium Hybrid, specifically developed for hybrid powertrains.

Additionally, PLI will present its Urania range for commercial vehicles, including the Urania Urban for last-mile delivery conditions, and its Selenia range, which has been reorganized to meet new Stellantis specifications. The company is also highlighting its access to Group III and III+ base oils, marketed as ETRO and ETRO+.

In Brazil, SIMEPETRO (Association of Lubricant Producers and Importers) is preparing for the 2026 edition of Lubescon and Feilub. The event is expected to see a 30% increase in exhibitors compared to previous years. A new feature, the Technical Arena, will focus on workforce qualification and technological innovation, covering topics such as special greases, biolubricants, and the impact of international tensions on raw material costs.
