Lubusz Region to Establish Five New Nature Reserves Covering 145 Hectares

The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski announced that five new nature reserves will be created in the Lubusz Voivodeship in August, covering more than 145 hectares of valuable forests, wetlands and habitats of rare species. The reserves – Binduga, Wilczy Ostęp, Torfowisko Sarbinowo, Kamienna Dąbrowa and Cisowe Grądy – will raise the total number of protected areas in the region to 88.

Binduga, located in the Krosno Odrzańskie municipality, will protect rare flood‑plain oak‑ash forests, alder‑ash river valleys and associated flora and fauna. The other four reserves, situated in the Drezdenko and Dobiegniew municipalities, will safeguard prime mixed‑species deciduous forests, peatlands and other ecologically diverse habitats. The legal protection level is comparable to that of a national park, and the authorities aim to keep the sites accessible for tourism and environmental education where possible.
