Luc Besson denounces hunters after finding decapitated deer on property

French filmmaker Luc Besson has expressed outrage on social media after discovering decapitated deer carcasses on his property in the Orne region. On September 20, 2026, Besson shared a photograph on X showing a deer lying near a fence with its head severed, accusing hunters of leaving the remains to rot.

This incident follows a previous legal conflict involving the director. In February 2025, two hunters were convicted after entering Besson's property to pursue and kill a deer with daggers on his terrace. Besson criticized the perceived lack of nobility in hunting, stating, “After having slit a deer's throat in front of my mother last year, the hunt is open again! Now they are decapitating deer in front of my house and letting the bodies rot.”
