Luca Cannata proposes permanent committee for Sicilian housing recovery

Luca Cannata, a Member of Parliament for Fratelli d’Italia, has proposed the creation of a permanent committee to address housing needs in Sicily. The proposal, made during the 70th anniversary celebrations of Ance Siracusa, aims to bring together builders, professional orders, local municipalities, Iacp, and social partners to census, requalify, and return unusable properties to the community.

The initiative aligns with the Meloni government’s ‘Piano Casa’ (Housing Plan), which focuses on three pillars: public residential housing, social housing, and partnerships with the private sector for subsidized housing. The plan seeks to provide stability for families, autonomy for youth, and dignity for the elderly without creating debt for future generations.

In Syracuse, PNRR funds are slated to renovate and requalify 597 homes. Cannata emphasized the need for clear and stable regulations that remain consistent for at least ten years to provide certainty for both citizens and businesses.
