Luca Cari announces book on Amatrice earthquake rescue efforts

Luca Cari, a national emergency spokesperson for the Italian National Fire Corps, has announced the upcoming release of the book ‘Salvare vite’ (Saving Lives). Scheduled for publication by Mondadori in July 2026, the volume serves as a commemorative work marking the tenth anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Central Italy on August 24, 2016.

The 160-page book provides a direct perspective from the firefighters who were on the front lines during the disaster, particularly in the Amatrice area. Through collected testimonies from colleagues, the work documents the tension, physical exhaustion, and emotional experiences of rescue operations conducted amidst collapsed buildings and debris. It aims to create a collective memory of the rescue efforts and the human impact of the seismic event.
