Luca den Ronden wins autocross championship after cancer battle

Luca den Ronden, a 16-year-old from Helmond, has won the ASUZ autocross championship in Deurne following a successful battle against malignant bone cancer.

Diagnosed at age 13 after experiencing knee pain, den Ronden underwent 26 rounds of chemotherapy and surgery to replace a knee joint with a prosthesis. After recovering from the treatment, he returned to his passion for racing in March of last year. He secured the title during a six-race series in the southern Netherlands. Den Ronden expressed that the championship feels “very special” and plans to compete in the NK next year.
