Luca Guadagnino honored at Venice Film Festival

Director Luca Guadagnino was honored with the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the Venice Film Festival. During the event, he presented his new seven-hour documentary, ‘Joie de Vivre’.

The documentary explores the life and cinematic legacy of Bernardo Bertolucci. Guadagnino described his connection to Bertolucci as a profound obsession, noting that he once aspired to be like the filmmaker due to Bertolucci’s international approach and political engagement.

In a masterclass at the festival, Guadagnino also discussed his relationship with his actors, stating he is ‘enamoured’ with them. He shared anecdotes regarding his collaboration with Julia Roberts, describing her as ‘fantastic’ and ‘inspiring’ during their previous work together.
