Luca Meneghetti found dead on Cres island

Luca Meneghetti, the 53-year-old manager of the Tennis Torre club in Padua, Italy, has been found dead on the Croatian island of Cres. His body was discovered near his car in a pine forest in the Lubenica area after he failed to return from a planned excursion.

Meneghetti was on vacation in Croatia and had reportedly intended to go hiking and swim to a nearby islet. His last contact with acquaintances was via WhatsApp on Wednesday, August 12. After he failed to return to his accommodation, local authorities were alerted.

The search operation involved the Mali Lošinj police station and 13 rescuers from the HGSS Rijeka station, who utilized a drone to navigate the terrain. While a sudden health issue is suspected, the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
