Luca Spada investigated for suspected serial killings in ambulances

Investigators in Forlì are examining the psychological profile of Luca Spada, a 28-year-old former ambulance driver accused of killing six elderly patients. Specialists from the Racis investigative psychology unit have described Spada’s behavior as driven by an “obsessive and uncontrollable internal motivational impulse.”

The investigation suggests a potential serial pattern, with the prosecution alleging that Spada targeted vulnerable, elderly patients during medical transports. The deaths, which occurred between February and November 2025, are suspected to have been caused by air injections. These findings were cited by the public prosecutor and used by a judge to deny Spada’s request for house arrest.

Spada has maintained his innocence, arguing that the patients were already gravely ill and that most did not die during transport, but several days later. The legal proceedings are currently focused on the case of Deanna Mambelli.
