Luca Verganti named director of neuroradiology at Carlo Poma, Mantova
Luca Verganti, 45, was appointed director of the neuroradiology department at the Carlo Poma Hospital in Mantova on 17 May, succeeding Enrico Piovan who retired after several years of service. Verganti comes from the neuroradiology unit of the Modena health authority, where he has worked since 2011, focusing on interventional angiography and the provincial pathway for acute ischemic stroke treatment, including thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy. He also conducted research on mechanical thrombectomy at the Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm.
In his first statement, Verganti praised the department’s advanced technology and staff training, and said he will expand interventional radiology services, increase the volume of imaging procedures, and reduce waiting lists. He plans to strengthen collaboration with the hospital’s neurology and neurosurgery teams to improve care for acute cerebrovascular conditions.
