Lucas Digne to rejoin Paris Saint‑Germain on three‑year deal

French left‑back Lucas Digne, 32, is reported to have reached an agreement with Paris Saint‑Germain for a three‑year contract. The deal would activate a release clause of less than €10 million in his Aston Villa contract and would take effect after the 2026 World Cup, on 19 July 2026. No official confirmation from PSG or Aston Villa has been released yet.

Digne previously played for PSG from 2013 to 2016 before spells at Barcelona, Everton and Aston Villa. PSG, whose first‑choice left‑back is Nuno Mendes, are looking for a reliable backup and tactical option. The French defender is expected to provide depth and experience, potentially rotating in wider defensive roles.

Aston Villa will lose a regular starter who made over 180 appearances for the club, creating a significant gap in their Premier League squad. The transfer was reported by multiple media outlets, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the activation of the clause.
