Lucas do Rio Verde artisans record 80% sales surge via itinerant fairs

Artisans in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, Brazil, posted an approximate 80% increase in sales between January and May 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. The growth is attributed to a series of itinerant fairs that moved local crafts to public events such as the Carnaval da Praça, Feira de Páscoa, Show Safra, Mostra de Dança and Festa do Milho, expanding market reach despite the Casa do Artesão being temporarily closed for renovations.

The municipality will also feature a dedicated creative‑economy pavilion at the FIT Pantanal 2026 International Tourism Fair in June, further promoting local products. A new shared‑management model gives artisans a greater voice in decision‑making, strengthening the sector’s organization. Municipal officials say the strategy aims not only to sustain activity during the renovation but also to build a more resilient foundation for the future of Lucas do Rio Verde’s craft industry.
