Amazonas micro-bus accident leaves multiple injured on BR-174
A micro-bus accident on the BR-174 highway in Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas, resulted in multiple injuries on Saturday morning. The vehicle lost control at kilometer 146, traveling toward the Manaus–Boa Vista direction, before plunging approximately 15 meters down a ravine and overturning in a wooded area.
Emergency responders, including ten firefighters and SAMU teams, treated between 17 and 22 people at the scene. The victims, ranging in age from 5 to 60, include three children. While many were initially treated at the Municipal Hospital Eraldo Neves in Presidente Figueiredo, several individuals—including 12 who received specialized care and three in serious condition—were transferred to hospitals in Manaus, such as the Hospital e Pronto-Socorro João Lúcio.
No passengers were reported trapped in the wreckage. The Federal Highway Police are expected to conduct a forensic investigation to determine whether the cause was mechanical failure or loss of traction due to wet road conditions.
