More than 200 women attended the first Conference of Women in Politics Week in Lucas do Rio Verde. The event, held at the Auditório dos Pioneiros, was organized by the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Housing at the initiative of First Lady and Secretary Janice Ribeiro.
The conference brought together students, professionals, and representatives of society to discuss topics including female presence in politics, leadership, rights, representativeness, democracy, and citizenship. During the opening, Mayor Miguel Vaz emphasized the necessity of strengthening women's participation in decision-making spaces to encourage further involvement from the community.
Janice Ribeiro highlighted the importance of mutual support among women, stating that female participation is not a competition with men but a collaborative effort to build a more just society. The program included lectures and discussion groups, such as a session on women in political leadership roles presented by law student Reginalva Borges Mascarenhas and professor Luana Alves.
