Lucas do Rio Verde hosts Move Lucas sports fest and declares São Cristóvão Festival intangible heritage

The municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde organized the inaugural Move Lucas event on Saturday, offering a range of sports activities such as crossfit, functional training, dance, indoor cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, bodybuilding and more. The programme, run by the municipal Secretariat of Sports and Leisure, aimed to introduce residents to existing local modalities and promote healthier lifestyles. A participant praised the initiative, saying it “encourages our health and quality of life and lets us discover which activity suits us best.”

Later that evening, the city council approved the Festa de São Cristóvão as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Lucas do Rio Verde. The declaration concludes a project that began in 2021, producing a documentary, permanent exhibition totems and the first participatory inventory of the festival’s history. Cultural and Tourism Secretary Luciana Bauer highlighted that the work preserves “the history, memory, faith and cultural identity of the municipality,” while Museum coordinator Oliveira Neto stressed that the records will keep the tradition alive for future generations.
