Lucas do Rio Verde programs highlight youth development and sports success
In Lucas do Rio Verde, Brazil, municipal education initiatives and sports programs are driving youth development. Through a partnership between the Municipal Secretariat of Education and the Sicredi Ouro Verde MT/PA cooperative, the School Cooperatives Program is teaching students entrepreneurship, financial education, and leadership.
Recently, five school cooperatives held Ordinary General Assemblies to present projects to the community, including water conservation campaigns, fruit tree planting, and the production of sweets. Mayor Miguel Vaz and Sicredi President Eledir Techio emphasized the program's role in fostering citizenship and practical life skills.
Simultaneously, athletes from the Viva Lucas Program achieved significant success in international BMX competitions held in San Juan, Argentina. Representing Brazil, the team secured seven podium finishes across the Ibero-American Championship and the Latin American BMX Cup. Notable performances included Nathan Jaymes winning two gold medals in the Cruiser category, and young athlete Antônio Chitolina securing multiple podium spots in his international debut.
