Lucas Dorn pleads guilty to fatal burnout incident in Stockrington

Lucas Dorn, 23, pleaded guilty in Newcastle Local Court to dangerous driving causing death, driving while suspended, and two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct. The charges stem from a June 29 incident at Stockrington, where Dorn was performing burnouts in a Ford Fairlane.

During the incident, Dorn lost control of the vehicle while drifting and fishtailing toward a group of onlookers. The car struck 53-year-old John Callaghan, causing fatal head and neck injuries, and also injured two women. Dorn fled the scene, and the vehicle was later found on fire in Chisholm approximately two hours after the collision. Dorn will appear in Newcastle District Court next month for sentencing.
