Lucas Glover protests AimPoint green‑reading technique at 3M Open

Former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover staged a mini protest during the final round of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota. After sinking a 10‑foot birdie putt on the 10th hole, he removed his FootJoy shoes, walked in his socks toward the hole, retrieved his ball and then returned the shoes, visibly expressing frustration with the AimPoint green‑reading system.

Glover, a six‑time PGA Tour winner, has repeatedly criticized AimPoint, saying it increases foot traffic around the hole, slows play and offers no statistical improvement in putting. He reiterated these views on his Sirius/XM show and a recent podcast, calling for the technique to be banned. While many top players—including Adam Scott, Viktor Hovland and Dustin Johnson—continue to use AimPoint, Glover’s protest highlighted ongoing debate over pace‑of‑play measures on the Tour. He finished the tournament with a 1‑over 72 in the final round.
